With "D" to success
From February 28 to March 3, the European Championships, the European finals of the ICPC, took place for only the second time. 53 of the best teams in Europe, 13 from each of the four European regions and one team from the host university, competed against each other in Porto. They all had five hours to solve as many of the eleven algorithmic problems as possible with just one computer.
After the GCPC and the NWERC, the KIT team Kindergarten Timelimit was once again successful: With six solved problems in total and the only solution to problem D, the KIT team, consisting of Lucas Schwebler, Jonathan Dransfeld and Yidi Zang, won a bronze medal. Only one team (TU Delft) managed to solve all eight problems.
Thanks to their historic victory at the European preliminary round, the NWERC, the three KIT students had already qualified for the World Finals in September. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the final in Baku (Azerbaijan)
The complete results can be found here and further information here.
For Bachelor students, the group led by T.-T. Professor Thomas Bläsius offers an internship every summer semester that prepares them for the competition and from which future participants are selected. More information on https://icpc.iti.kit.edu or on the Discord server.
